hello!

In November 2019 seven friends came together to form FUNraisers for St Jude Inc. We all had worked together in the past volunteering at other events in our community. We all had a desire to do more. We wanted to be able to raise money and awareness. Several of us have ran in Memphis in December over the last few years. That’s where the desire and passion started.

WE BELIEVE

We believe our team was brought together by a higher power for many purposes. Since forming our team two of our board members have had cancer affect either them or a direct family member. I would not wish on anyone that they would have to witness a child go through cancer treatment.

OUR HOPE

Our hope is that we can raise enough money that one day childhood cancer is a memory.

HOW IT BEGAN

FUNraisers: Making events fun and enjoyable while raising money.

Families We Help

EMMA

Cassie Goldsboro is one of the founding members of FUNraisers for St. Jude.

Her daughter Emma Gracie was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma high risk in June of 2020. The Goldsboro’s spent 2 days at sacred heart in Pensacola, then an ambulance ride to Our lady of the lake in Baton Rouge, la, which is a St. Jude affiliate. They spent a month inpatient. They ran many tests and scans to be able to pinpoint exactly what Emma’s diagnosis was. Emma’s health was declining very quickly.

They were waiting to get pathology to see what chemo Emma needed and how to proceed. With her health declining so fast, the Drs could not wait any longer and decided to start on intermediate chemo. This helped Emma tremendously. Once her numbers were stable they were able to go home for a few days before going to St. Jude in Memphis. Once in Memphis Emma went through another 5 rounds of chemo with antibodies.

A resection surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. They got about 95%. She had a lot of blood and platelet transfusions, too many to count. Emma also went through 2 stem cell transplants and 13 days of radiation treatments. She will be starting immunotherapy soon, which is another 5 rounds of antibodies and 6 rounds of oral chemo. Needless to say this is by far the hardest thing a family could ever imagine going through.

The Goldsboro’s have been away from their home, family, friends, pets, and work for almost a year. FUNraisers raises funds for families and for St. Jude. Being able to focus on your child and not have to worry about medical bills, lodging, and food means the world to all the families. The stress of a child with cancer is unimaginable and unexplainable.

St. Jude is so amazing not just for the free care, but also the amount of research and life saving treatments they have come up with. The nurses, Drs, and all the staff are truly amazing, caring, and remarkable people. Just know that when you donte to FUNraisers, you are donating more than money. You are donating to finding a cure so that children can be children, and families can be families.

The families need to focus on their children not their finances. We found that there are a good number of patients from the state of Louisiana. If we can help our families along with others we will make a difference.
